One of my favorite photo series of all time is Lee Friedlander’s Self-portraits. I love the way he imposes his shadows on angles and objects and says fuck it, let’s make this shit beautiful instead of avoiding these things that were once intrusions.
Here are a few of my favorites:

I recently developed a dangerous thing where I spend hours and dollars collecting photos from estate sales that ended up in thrift stores. As I was sifting through a giant vat of photos, I started noticing a lot of photos with similar shadows and reflections to that of Friedlander’s Self-portrait series.
I started collecting these accidental self-portraits in various thrift stores (mostly Brooklyn) and have come across about 100 photos. I’m now in the process of laying them out in some sort printed sequence. Until then, here are some of my favorites I’ve found:

More to come.

Pepe Deluxé: ‘In the Cave - Pepe Deluxé plays The Great Stalacpipe Organ’ (2011)
Press release notes from Pepe Deluxé:
Music group Pepe Deluxé unleashes the largest instrument in the world.
“In February 2011, The Great Stalacpipe Organ, located in Luray Caverns, Virginia, USA, finally met its equal. Respecting the unbelievable magnitude and uniqueness of this subterranean instrument, Pepe Deluxé became the first ever humans to compose and record a tune for it.
The title of the tune is ‘In the Cave’, and it was performed by the writer, Pepe Deluxé’s Paul Malmström , himself. The composition is part of Pepe’s upcoming fourth album, an esoteric pop opera called Queen of the Wave, based on the legendary book A Dweller on Two Planets.
Watch the video and enjoy the sounds of the rubber mallets hitting the ancient hand-tuned stalactites, giving the song its inexplicable beauty and otherworldly mood.
Pepe Deluxé are James Spectrum - Baron of Sealand and Paul Malmström - an explorer of worlds both known and unknown. The NY-based film company Pale Blue Pictures (http://www.palebluepictures.com/) is currently working on a documentary about The Stalacpipe Organ and the recording.”

what the fudge.
New video! I would love to see Die Antwoord live, but I’m frightened of the types of people they would draw. Like satan worshippers, for instance.
Still love the colors/treatment on their other vid so, so much.
